Help - drying out a very wet drysuit!

My drysuit flooded on Sunday and while the body and legs are now dry the boots are still drenched and I can't turn them inside out anymore than I have. Any suggestions to make sure its dry for Saturday's dive? Was thinking of sticking the hairdryer in them but I'll probably be left with a hole or a melted boot or something :-s

I have used kitchen towels to dry my suit, you know like the ones Audrey and Brenda use Wink

Once the worst of the moisture is gone i turn the suit inside out as much as i can without damaging the zip. Then a few hours in the back garden in the sun should do the rest

if you turn it inside out and leave it in a warm room it will dry out . outerwise outside in the sun .

but you could try the hair dryer on low heat and just give it good breakd to cool down . this could also crack the boots so be care full . any way a lil damp anit the end of the world . use another pair of socks

If you roll up newspaper and get it into the boots, and do the same with the arms that should dry up most of the moisture there, next morning get the body inside out as much as possible into the sun and you should be good to go for Sat - worked for me when in valve popped out.....

Thanks folks - Denis tried the Audrey and Brenda approach last night and seems to have gotten rid of a lot of the water.

Dragstar - flooded when fighting current on Sunday - through the neck seal. Not cosy at all.

I know the feeling - I was diving there earlier in the year on the Kowloon bridge when my drysuit inflator was stuck in the open position - no problem. Disconnect ...... Doh now every time I descend water is comming in to equalise the suit!!!

It was a wet dive - but still worth it, funny part was going up the diver lift with swollen ankles full of water - looked like balloons - thanks to fourt element I wasnt too bad and managed a second dive in it (after pouring the gallons of water out)

yeah had a few suit floods this year . worst has been . at the bottom of portroe in 3 degree water . and the other with 50 mins of deco to do

Dont worry about it. Once you turn on your torch, it'll dry out everything in a 10 Metre radius!!!!

Another (slightly mad but effective) option is if you know any fire fighters give the suit to them they have drying rooms for their gear in the fire station leave it in there over night and the humidity will have it bone dry by morning without damaging the suit!

Hate to put a damper on all the good advice guys but drying your suit in direct sunlight is not a good idea. The heat can (and will) damage the seals and seams as it softens the glue. The paper trick works well and Cat just HAPPENS to know a firefighter....!! Twisted Evil
