I have bought 5mm gloves do you think there too thick as in safety for undoing clips and the like compared to a set which are 3mm I have used them snorkeling ther brill it's the diving Part that I am worried about

I think that this depends on the individual to be honest Tany

Ive used 5mm and 3mm gloves and no problem with either - now Im even using dry gloves which can be akward but with some practice they are ok

I would agree its a matter of preference.

I use 5mm in Irish waters and with practice have no difficulty with clips etc, I even operate my camera with them which proved a little trickier at first.

If need be in a difficult situation or a trickier operation you can always remove a glove.

Try playing with your clips gloves on on dry land, I took my camera complete with case and 5 mm gloves around the garden practising light balance, macro shots, etc controls.

The more you mess with them the more instinctual the mechanics are.

Personal preference.I use only 3mm gloves can not stand the thicker ones.Put your full gear on at home and try unclipping all the clips with the gloves you have. You will find out quickly what works for you.

I use 3mm but I have used gloves where I have cut a slit on the index finger and thumb on the inside part of the digit where the knuckle bends.
This allows you to keep your fingers warm but you can pop the tips out of the gloves if you really need that bit of extra dexterity.

Cheers

CHRIS
